Familiar Beauty

New.

Clean.

Pristine.

Shiny.

Glistening.

I love it.

An empty journal

Waiting…

Calling.

An unread book

Pages smooth…

Adventure and knowledge

Awaiting discovery.

Even

A new friendship.

Just one more…

I’ll be content when…

I am surrounded

By the familiar.

Yet,

I don’t need to fly far

To experience

Wonder and awe.

Sometimes,

Rather than looking

To the horizon,

It’s time to hover a while

And behold

The Familiar Beauty.

…be content with what you have (Hebrews 13:5, NIV).
