A Boost

You’ve seen them.

The people

Down on one knee.

Fingers interlaced.

Palms up.

They nod.

Are you sure?

They nod again.

Then you take

A cautious step.

You can hold my weight?

A grin spreads

From ear to ear.

They’re eager.

They want to help.

Some days

They’re just too busy

Giving others

A leg up

To even think about flying.

And that’s

Who I want to be.

The sky awaits.

And maybe,

Just maybe,

With a smile

And a little boost.

I can help others

Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others (Philippians 2:3-4, NIV).
