That’s Enough

We say time flies.

And it does.

Yet there are times

When it drags on and on and on.

Take this past winter

For instance.

So many people questioned

If it would ever end.

And what about

The sick and the elderly

As they wait for a visitor?

Time does not fly for them…

Unless you ask them about

Their youth and their families.

Then they’ll tell you

How fleeting life really is.

And what about when we’re waiting

To hear

About those medical test results

Or that new job

Or a new grandchild’s arrival?

In the flurry of our lives,

Those times seem to be

Agonizingly long.

So,

What should we do?

What should I do?

Complain that I don’t have

Enough time?

Grumble that it’s taking

Forever

To hear the news?

Is there a third option?

How about contentment?

My life is good.

Does everything happen

Exactly as I’d like it to?

Of course not.

But I do know the One

In whom I can trust.

The One for whom

Time is irrelevant.

The One who holds

All my tomorrows.

And that’s enough.

godliness with contentment is great gain (1 Timothy 6:6 NIV).

  1. “All in good time” or “patience is a virtue” – good ones to be sure, but I agree with you “In His time” is the ONE in which you can have confidence.
