Day of Rest

Even if you didn’t go to church,

Sundays used to be different.

Stores were closed.

Families gathered for Sunday Dinner.

People were accused of being

Sunday Drivers

If they poked along on any day

Except Sunday…

When it was allowed…

Even expected.

Many realized

It was more than just another day.

We’ve lost that.

People think they soar

Farther and higher

If they view Sunday as

Just another day.

But in the end,

Do we really accomplish more?

And how about our outlook?

Don’t we need some time to

Set aside

The weight of the everyday?

I know I do.

I have created

A whole new To Do list

For Sundays Only.

On it are

A long walk.

Quiet time in the park

To journal and read.

At least

An hour for pleasure reading.

Some kind of

Creative expression…

Be it drawing.

Photography.

Painting.

Photo-journalling (aka scrapbooking).

Whatever.

Family time.

And…

Church.

Allow yourself

To explore new skies

From time to time.

There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens (Ecclesiastes 3:1 NIV).
