Time does not go by more quickly
As we age.
From my perception
I think whoever said it first
Was onto something.
As I listen to the ticking clock
In our living room…
Don’t ask me why we bought one that ticks
I still haven’t figured it out…
As I listen to it
I realize it’s just a constant reminder that
I have a limited amount of time
To accomplish the unlimited number of things
I want to do.
Before I jump off the cliff
And fly into the week
I must prioritize.
The things that are truly important
Get relegated to the leftovers
I think one difference between
Living a successful life
And an unsuccessful one will be
My attitude toward time constraints.
Does the realization that
I have only “x” number of days
Cause me to fatalistically throw up my hands
And give up?
Or does it challenge me
To invest every moment wisely?
I must map my route
Placing the most important destination
At the top of my itinerary.
…seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own (Matthew 6:33-34 NIV).
